Santa Barbara Dark Sky is an outdoor wall light from Maxim Lighting. It comes in 2 sizes: 7 x 13.5 in and 9 x 16 in. Mocha glass is paired with a Sienna finish.
The Design Story
Santa Barbara Dark Sky is a craftsman and mission-style wall lantern in a Sienna finish with Mocha glass over die cast aluminum. Its Dark Sky friendly design keeps light aimed at the doorway rather than the night sky, and the wet rating suits an open entry. The warm color pairs with stucco, clay roof tiles and timber details.
Why You’ll Love It
It takes E26 Medium bulbs up to 60W per socket, which makes it easy to choose your own color temperature and brightness. Dark Sky friendly: it aims light down, not into the night sky. Materials: die cast aluminum.
Not sure which finish to pick? Finishes explained walks through the options.
Putting It Together
Maxim posts an assembly sheet for each size: 7 x 13.5 in (PDF) and 9 x 16 in (PDF). Outdoor fixtures need a weatherproof junction box and a GFCI-protected circuit, so we recommend a qualified electrician for the install.

Where It Shines
Beside a front door or a garage door, along a side path or a back patio wall, and on a deck or balcony. Wall lights at the entry welcome guests, light the lock and house number, and give the front of the house a finished look after dark.
Questions We Hear Most
What sizes does the Santa Barbara Dark Sky outdoor wall light come in?
It comes in 7 in (17.8 cm) wide by 13.5 in (34.3 cm) high, extending 9 in (22.9 cm) from the wall; 9 in (22.9 cm) wide by 16 in (40.6 cm) high, extending 11 in (27.9 cm) from the wall. Beside a door, a fixture about one quarter to one third the height of the door looks in scale; go larger when it is seen from the street.
Which bulbs does it use, and can I dim it?
Each socket takes an E26 Medium bulb up to 60W. A warm 2700K LED bulb gives a soft, welcoming glow. Bulbs are not included.
How high should I mount it?
Beside a door, outdoor wall lights usually go with the center of the fixture about 66 in from the threshold, or a little above eye level, one on each side of the door or one on the latch side. It extends 9 in (22.9 cm) (7 x 13.5 in); 11 in (27.9 cm) (9 x 16 in) from the wall.
Can it handle rain and weather?
Yes. It is wet rated, so it can take direct rain and snow on an open wall, post or yard, as well as covered porches.
