Pressa Square Medium Wall-Wash Outdoor Sconce by Sean Lavin for Visual Comfort

The Pressa Square Medium Wall-Wash Outdoor Sconce by Sean Lavin is a 12-inch square wall light that sends warm 2700K light both up and down to wash the wall around it. At 12 inches it is the middle step of the series. Its square profile gives crisp, architectural edges. Choose Black or Natural Brass.

The Design Story

Visual Comfort describes the Pressa collection as a clean architectural study in proportion and geometry, offered in both cylindrical and square profiles. The fixture balances simplicity with precision so it can sit naturally on contemporary architecture. The medium size is a balanced vertical scale suited to entryways, outdoor living spaces and exterior passageways.

Why You'll Love It

The Pressa Square Medium suits either side of a front door, along a covered terrace or beside a garage entry, where a mid-height fixture reads clearly without crowding the door. It is 12 inches tall, 3 inches wide and extends 4 inches from the wall, on a small 5 by 2.8 inch backplate, and it weighs 3.5 pounds. Etched glass softens the integrated 2700K LED, and the up and down light can be wired independently.

Made for Real Life

The Pressa Square Medium is die-cast aluminum with stainless steel mounting hardware, finished in powder coat or natural brass. Its spec sheet lists a wet location certification, an IP65 rating and ETL listing, and the product page rates it Outdoor Full Weather, so it can live on an exposed exterior wall. Visual Comfort backs it with a 5-year warranty.

Where It Shines

On either side of a front door, along a covered terrace, beside a garage entry or down an exterior passage, where a 12 inch square fixture reads cleanly.

Who This Is Not For

Pressa Square Medium is a wall wash and not a floodlight, so it is not for lighting a yard or a driveway. For a taller facade, a larger Pressa gives more reach; for a small accent, look at Pressa Square Small.

Questions We Hear Most

How big is the Pressa Square Medium?

It is 12 inches tall and 3 inches wide, and it extends 4 inches from the wall. The backplate is 5 inches tall and 2.8 inches wide. It weighs 3.5 pounds.

How does the light work?

Etched glass diffusers cover integrated 2700K LED light sources, so the fixture sends light both up and down and washes the wall. The up and down light can be wired independently, which Visual Comfort says helps you comply with dark sky ordinances. The fixture delivers 887 lumens at 90 CRI on 10.6 watts.

Can it go outside in the rain?

Yes. Visual Comfort's spec sheet lists it as wet listed and IP65 rated, and the rating on the product page is Outdoor Full Weather. The die-cast aluminum frame has stainless steel mounting hardware, so it suits an exposed exterior wall.

What do I need to install it?

It is hardwired, and it needs a deeper junction box. Visual Comfort includes two extension accessories in the box. The spec sheet lists a mounting depth of 4 to 6.7 inches, so plan the box depth before the wall is closed.

Can I dim it?

Yes. It dims on 0-10V, ELV and TRIAC dimmers and runs on universal 120V to 277V. Use an LED compatible dimmer.

Which finish should I choose?

Natural Brass is raw-feeling and warm, and Visual Comfort says it is designed to develop a rich patina over time, so it will deepen and change with weather. Black is a clean powder coat that keeps a crisp, graphic outline against light stucco, stone or siding.

Why We Love It

Pressa Square Medium gives an entry a pair of clean, mid-height boxes of warm light that wash the wall above and below.
