The Design Story
Path is a step and pathway light made to sit in a single gang box, running on line voltage so no separate transformer is needed. Wide horizontal and narrow vertical beam spreads, plus glass and pinhole variants, let it wash stairs, landings or garden walls with low light. Aluminum bodies come in several finishes, with LED, wet rated.
Why You’ll Love It
An integrated LED does the work, so there are no bulbs to change; it puts out 20 to 112 lumens. A switch lets you choose the color temperature at install, from warm to cool white. Maxim rates the LED for 50,000 hours. It is also offered with a built-in motion sensor. Materials: aluminum.

Putting It Together
Maxim posts an assembly sheet for each size: 3 x 5 in (PDF), 5 x 3 in (PDF), 4.75 x 3 in (PDF), 3 x 5 in, 5 in high (PDF) and 3 x 4.75 in (PDF). Outdoor fixtures need a weatherproof junction box and a GFCI-protected circuit, so we recommend a qualified electrician for the install.

It has a built-in LED, so there are no bulbs to buy or change. A switch sets the color temperature, warm to cool.
How high should step lights go?
Step and path lights are usually set low, about 12 to 24 in above the tread or ground, so the light falls on the walking surface without glare.
Can it handle rain and weather?
Yes. It is wet rated, so it can take direct rain and snow on an open wall, post or yard, as well as covered porches.
