Oscar is a slim floor lamp with a movable opal glass globe, made by CTO Lighting of London. It stands 52.4 in tall on a solid cast and machined brass base.

The Design Story

CTO calls Oscar an elegant, discreet floor light that is striking in an interior. The opal globe moves on its arm, so you can point the glow where you need it, and the glass gives a wonderful, diffuse light. It is slightly larger than the Oscar table lamp, and the base is cast and machined to be solid and strong.

The Story of CTO Lighting

Chris and Clare Turner founded CTO Lighting in London in 1998 on one principle: design lights of uncompromising quality, using only the finest materials and working with elite British craftsmen. Chris is an engineer who designs and builds with meticulous detail, and Clare brings the eye of fashion. Together they built a name for understated luxury in hand-finished brass, mouth-blown glass and artisan-cut stone, and the collection has gone on to light The Savoy, The Dorchester, St Pancras Renaissance Hotel and Chiltern Firehouse.

How It Was Made

CTO casts and machines the base in brass, finishes the stem by hand, and fits an opal glass globe. CTO assembles each Oscar in England.

The Finishes

Satin Brass. A satin brass stem and base. Warm golden tones and a brushed, satin surface give a soft sheen that feels luxurious but understated.

Bronze. A bronze stem on a satin brass base. Deep, rich color brings a touch of historical weight to a modern room and contrasts with the golden base.

Yes. CTO describes the glass globe as movable, so you can aim the glow.

Is it the same as the Oscar table lamp?

It is the same idea, slightly larger. CTO says the floor version is a little larger than the table version.

How do I clean it?

Dust with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. If a mark remains, use a slightly damp lint-free cloth, then dry it with a soft dry one. CTO advises against detergents and abrasive cleaners.
