The Design Story

Moonlight is an eclipse for the wall. The MDF disc sits 2" off the surface and the LEDs behind it light the wall in a ring, so what you see is a dark moon with a bright corona. Egoluce leaves the white disc raw so you can paint it to match your wall, or finishes it in chalkboard, gold leaf, silver leaf or mirror.

Egoluce was founded in 1978 in Pero, just outside Milan, by three friends with a lighting background, and it still makes everything in Italy with local companies and artisans. Special versions and sister products from the Moonlight family are available to order through us.

Why You'll Love It

• The halo effect: a dark disc with light spilling around it turns a plain wall into the feature.
• CRI >90 LEDs keep colors honest, in 2700K, 3000K or 4000K.
• 5 finishes, from white to mirror, so it can disappear or be the jewelry.
• Egoluce designs its LED units to be replaced, not discarded, and tests every fixture before it leaves the factory.
• Integrated power supply comes with it.

Made for Real Life

Think a hallway, a stair landing, a bedroom wall, a restaurant or a hotel corridor; two or three discs in different sizes and finishes is the composition Egoluce shows most. Good to know: an electrician hardwires it; IP40 means dry indoor rooms only; and Egoluce builds it after you order, so count on 9 to 11 weeks.

Questions We Hear Most

When will my Moonlight ship?

Every Moonlight is built to order at Egoluce's factory in Italy. Please allow 9 to 11 weeks for delivery. We confirm your ship date by email once it is ordered.

Warm or neutral: what light does the Moonlight give?

You pick: 2700K is the warmest, like an incandescent bulb; 3000K is a soft warm white that suits most homes; 4000K is a cooler, daylight-leaning white for work and retail. All versions use CRI >90 LEDs.

What are the measurements of the Moonlight?

Small: 19.7" dia. (50 cm) × 1.96" deep; Medium: 27.8" dia. (70 cm) × 1.96" deep; Large: 34.6" dia. (88 cm) × 1.96" deep. Disc 0.66" thick, 1.96" off the wall. Hardwired; no cable. The line drawing in the gallery shows every dimension.

Does the Moonlight work with a dimmer?

Egoluce's US file says yes. Because the dimming protocol is not published, message us with your dimmer model and we will check it with Egoluce first.

Is the Moonlight made in Italy?

Yes. Egoluce has made 100% Made-in-Italy lighting near Milan since 1978, working with Italian companies and artisans. The Moonlight was designed by ABS Studio in 2016.

What do I need to install the Moonlight?

A wall or ceiling junction box and an electrician: it is hardwired.

Why We Love It

LoftModern is an authorized Egoluce retailer. We like makers who build things to be lived with: Egoluce puts a heat sink in every fixture so the LEDs last, makes the LED unit replaceable, and has been doing it the same way near Milan since 1978.
