Mizu 33 Chandelier by Sean Lavin for Visual Comfort

The Mizu 33 Chandelier by Sean Lavin is a steel-frame LED chandelier in which a clear acrylic lightguide appears to float, hung from two thin black aircraft cables. At 32.6 inches wide, it is the most compact of the three. It comes in Nightshade Black or Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass.

The Design Story

Visual Comfort says Sean Lavin designed the Mizu collection to explore the relationship between structure and light through a disciplined architectural composition. A rectangular steel frame is interrupted by a sweeping bend that cradles a luminous lightguide, so it seems to float in the form. The aircraft cables keep the composition clean and weightless, and the result is precision, visual lightness and restrained geometry.

Why You'll Love It

Mizu 33 is the compact size, which Visual Comfort says suits kitchen islands, breakfast areas and intimate dining settings. A bent steel frame cradles a clear acrylic lightguide so it seems to float inside the form, and the whole fixture is only 1.3 inches deep. The color temperature is selectable at 2200K, 2700K or 3000K, and it dims on 0-10V, ELV and Triac dimmers.

Built for Damp Locations

Mizu 33 Chandelier is ETL listed, and Visual Comfort lists it for indoor damp locations and outdoor spaces under cover, such as a covered porch or an open-air pavilion. The light source is an integrated LED, so there are no bulbs to replace. It is Title 24 compliant.

Where It Shines

Over a kitchen island, above a breakfast table, in a small dining nook, or hung in a row of two or three over a longer counter.

Who This Is Not For

Mizu 33 gives 917 lumens from a single lightguide, so it is a feature fixture and not a full room light. It is only 32.6 inches wide, so it will look small over a large table. For a bigger table choose the 48 or 56 inch size.

Questions We Hear Most

How big is the Mizu 33 Chandelier?

It is 32.6 inches wide, 31.6 inches tall and 1.3 inches deep. Choose it for a kitchen island, a breakfast table, or in multiples over a counter.

How low or high can it hang?

Visual Comfort lists a minimum height of 33.7 inches and an overall height of 225.7 inches. It hangs from two aircraft cables, so you can set the drop to suit the room. It can go on a sloped ceiling up to 45 degrees.

What light source does it use and how does it dim?

It has a dedicated LED source in a clear acrylic lightguide. You can select 2200K, 2700K or 3000K, and it delivers 917 lumens at 90 CRI using 12.5 watts. It is rated for 50,000 hours to L70 and dims on 0-10V, ELV and Triac dimmers.

Can I hang more than one?

Yes. Visual Comfort says the fixture can be installed individually or grouped in multiples to create layered, custom compositions. Each one has its own two canopies, so plan the ceiling boxes for the layout you want.

How much does it weigh and what support does it need?

It weighs 10 lbs and hangs from two points, so it needs ceiling structure rated for that load at both canopies. Have a qualified electrician and your installer confirm the support before you order.

Can I use it outdoors?

Visual Comfort lists it for indoor damp locations and outdoor spaces under cover. It is not for fully exposed outdoor use.

Why We Love It

Mizu 33 packs the whole Mizu idea into a compact frame that sits easily over an island or a nook.
