Lucid is a dome of honed alabaster in a slim metal band, designed by Michaël Verheyden for CTO Lighting of London. This is the wall and ceiling flush version: the LED glows from beneath the stone and lights its natural veining.
It comes in 2 sizes and 3 finishes: Bronze, Satin Brass and Silvered Oxidised Brass, each with honed alabaster.
The Design Story
Michaël Verheyden drew Lucid from two memories: the glass globes of Parisian brasseries and the quiet interior of a snow dome. The wall version turns that idea into a soft half-dome of stone that sits close to the surface. A single piece of honed alabaster does the work of the shade, and its warm, even glow shows off the veining, so no two domes look quite alike.
CTO suggests it for corridors and hallways, where a compact light adds a little luxury without taking up room.
The Designer: Michaël Verheyden
Michaël Verheyden is an internationally acclaimed Belgian designer who joins the long tradition of Flemish design and expert workmanship with elemental forms. His work celebrates rich, natural materials such as wood, marble, leather and bronze, and pairs archetypal, architectural geometry with warmth. He has won the Henry Van de Velde award for talented young designers and received the Wallpaper design award three times, and Wallpaper named him to its 2016 Powerlist of the world’s most influential designers. He also designed CTO’s Heron collection.
The Story of CTO Lighting
Chris and Clare Turner founded CTO Lighting in London in 1998 on one principle: design lights of uncompromising quality, using only the finest materials and working with elite British craftsmen. Chris is an engineer who designs and builds with meticulous detail, and Clare brings the eye of fashion. Together they built a name for understated luxury in hand-finished brass, mouth-blown glass and artisan-cut stone, and the collection has gone on to light The Savoy, The Dorchester, St Pancras Renaissance Hotel and Chiltern Firehouse.
How It Was Made
CTO assembles every light to order. For the silvered finish, CTO worked with a small silversmith to experiment with new surfaces and arrived at a textured finish that layers brass, silver and oxidised silver. The alabaster is honed, so the surface feels soft and the light passes through evenly.
The Finishes
Satin Brass. Warm golden tones and a brushed, satin surface give a soft sheen that feels luxurious but understated. CTO selects the metal for its durability and beauty.
Bronze. Deep, rich color and a robust build bring a touch of historical weight to a modern room, with a warm, inviting glow.
Silvered Oxidised Brass. A dual-tone surface made by controlled oxidation followed by a subtle silvering, with a nuanced patina that adds texture and depth. It is the most expressive finish in the range.
Honed Alabaster. Every piece is cut from natural stone, prized for its soft, diffused light. The veining occurs naturally, so no two are alike, from almost white to grey-veined.
Why You’ll Love It
Lucid Wall has the calm of a good restaurant light: warm 2700K light, dimmable, and a dome that looks as good switched off as lit. Use a single 300 as a statement over a console, or repeat the 200 along a hallway. The data sheet covers both wall and ceiling flush mounting.
Made for Real Life
The 110-130V version is built for US homes with a standard E12 (200) or E26 (300) LED bulb, a dimmable bulb and a trailing-edge (phase-cut) dimmer. Dust with a soft dry, lint-free cloth and use a slightly damp cloth for marks. Skip detergents and abrasives on alabaster and metal.
Sizes in Inches: What 200 and 300 Mean
CTO names its sizes by body width in millimetres. Lucid Wall 200 is 200 mm wide (7.9 in) and Lucid Wall 300 is 300 mm wide (11.8 in). The diagram is in the photo gallery.
| Size | Lucid Wall 200 | Lucid Wall 300 |
|---|---|---|
| Body width | 7.9 in (200 mm) | 11.8 in (300 mm) |
| Body height | 7.9 in (200 mm) | 11 in (280 mm) |
| Weight | 8.8 lb | 19.8 lb |
| Bulb (US) | 1 x E12, 6.5W LED | 1 x E26, 6.5W LED |

Questions We Hear Most
What do Lucid Wall 200 and Lucid Wall 300 mean?
CTO names the sizes by body width in millimetres. Lucid Wall 200 is 7.9 in (200 mm) wide and 7.9 in high. Lucid Wall 300 is 11.8 in (300 mm) wide and 11 in high.
Is the Lucid wall light dimmable?
Yes. CTO specifies a dimmable LED bulb with a trailing-edge (phase-cut) dimmer, which lets you soften the glow of the alabaster.
What bulb does it use in the US?
The 110-130V version takes one LED bulb only: an E12 at 6.5W, 2700K for the Lucid Wall 200, or an E26 at 6.5W, 2700K for the Lucid Wall 300.
How heavy is it?
The Lucid Wall 200 weighs 8.8 lb (4 kg) and the Lucid Wall 300 weighs 19.8 lb (9 kg), so make sure the wall or ceiling fixing can carry the weight.
Can I mount it on a ceiling?
CTO publishes a single wall and ceiling flush data sheet for each size, so the same fitting is made for either surface.
How do I clean the alabaster and metal?
Dust with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. If a mark remains, use a slightly damp lint-free cloth, then dry it with a soft dry one. CTO advises against detergents and abrasive cleaners on alabaster and metal.
Who designed the Lucid wall light?
Michaël Verheyden designed it for CTO Lighting, inspired by Parisian brasseries and snow domes. CTO builds it in honed alabaster with bronze, satin brass or silvered oxidised brass metalwork.
Why We Love It
Lucid Wall brings the quiet idea behind the pendant, a stone that glows, down to a size that fits a hallway. It is serious about materials and light and never shouts.
