Kerflights P2 Cluster Pendant Light by Graypants

The Kerflights P2 Cluster gathers three or five slim P2 pendants on a single round canopy and sends them to you as one complete fixture. Choose kerf-cut plywood in four wood finishes, or soft PET felt in 46 colors, and the whole composition is made for you.

Each pendant is a 7 in wide, 13 in tall shade on a powder-coated steel wire frame, so the cluster feels light even when it is full. It is designer lighting you can afford, built to last, for a dining table, a stairwell or a double-height entry.

The Design Story

Kerflights is a Graypants collection of lamps built on powder-coated steel wire frames, with shade panels that can be swapped and reversed so a lamp can change as your room does. The P2 was designed by Graypants Studio in Seattle, the practice founded by architects Seth Grizzle and Jonathan Junker, which today works from studios in Seattle and Amsterdam.

The cluster takes that small, adaptable pendant and lets it work as a group. A single P2 is a quiet accent; three or five hung together at staggered heights become a loose constellation, with the repeated shade shape giving the arrangement its calm.

Wood or Felt

Wood. The shades are cut from FSC-certified plywood with a fine kerf pattern, which lets the panel curve and lets the light escape in lines across walls and tabletops. The four finishes are Black Walnut, Blackened Ash, Light Ash and White Oak, from deep and dramatic to pale and airy.

Felt. The shades are wrapped in PET felt in 46 colors, from Charcoal, Gray, Light Gray and Beige to Mustard, Sage, Coral, Indigo and Wine. Because the pendants are small, a strong color goes a long way: a cluster in Mustard or Periwinkle becomes the accent of the room.

Made for Real Life

Each pendant in the cluster is wired as it is on its single-pendant version, with one E26 socket for an LED bulb of up to 15W (bulbs not included) and 2700K warm white recommended. The cluster runs on 120V and is rated for dry locations. The canopy and cord are black as standard; a white canopy and cord are available on request, which may add lead time.

The cluster is made to order, so it is not for a project that needs a fixture within days. It is for dry, indoor rooms and hangs from a round canopy only, so if you want a straight-line arrangement over a long table, look at another Graypants cluster with a linear canopy.

Should I choose the three-pendant or the five-pendant cluster?

Both hang from one round canopy and arrive as a single complete fixture. The three-pendant cluster is the compact, tidy choice for a smaller table, a bedside corner or an entry. The five-pendant cluster is fuller and more sculptural, for a dining table, stairwell or a double-height room.

What is the difference between the wood and felt versions?

Wood shades are made of FSC-certified plywood cut with a kerf pattern, so the lit shade throws fine lines of light onto nearby walls and tables. Felt shades are made of PET felt, which is softer and quieter to look at and comes in 46 colors. The frame, size and canopy are the same.

What canopy comes with the cluster and how does it mount?

The cluster comes with a round aluminum canopy in black powder coat, 2 in (5.1 cm) deep and offered in 15, 24 and 32 in (38, 61 and 81 cm) diameters. Three-pendant clusters are shown on 24 in as standard. Graypants lists five-pendant clusters on a 32 in canopy, and some may fit on 24 in. We confirm the canopy size for your arrangement when you order. A white canopy and cord are available on request, which may add lead time. The item numbers are surface mounted, with ceiling couplers provided, and a suspended version on aircraft cable is also possible. Ceiling anchors are not provided.

How low does the cluster hang?

The standard drop from the ceiling to the bottom of the lowest pendant is 5 ft (152 cm). A custom drop is available at extra cost and with extra lead time.

Which bulbs does it take, and can it be dimmed?

Each P2 pendant is wired as it is on its single-pendant version: one E26 socket taking an LED bulb of up to 15W, with 2700K warm white recommended and bulbs not included. That means three sockets on the three-pendant cluster and five on the five-pendant cluster. Dimming depends on the bulb and the dimmer you choose.

How long will my cluster take to arrive?

Every cluster is made to order, with a lead time of about 6 weeks. It ships from the United States.

Where can I hang it, and how do I clean it?

Hang it in dry, indoor rooms only. Dust the shades with a dry duster or compressed air, and please have a qualified electrician plan the ceiling support and wiring.
