Kelly is drawn with an architect's economy. Jordi Veciana gave it a minimalist silhouette and a diffuser that can be turned, so the same lamp can point its light or soften it.
Carpyen calls it an essential piece for residential interiors and workspaces.
The Design Story
Veciana designed Kelly in 2019 as a collection built on an architectural, minimalist profile. The metal structure is slim, and the lamp's character lies in the diffuser: depending on how it is oriented, the light is projected directly or diffused. Four finish combinations, black and gold, black and nickel, gold and gold, or white and nickel, let the same shape take different moods.
Carpyen makes it in Barcelona, where it has been producing lighting since 1948. It joins modern technology with a design meant to last.
About the Designer
Jordi Veciana is a Catalan industrial designer known for a minimalist approach and a search for the essence of each object. After a career in New York working for major international brands, he returned to Barcelona to found his own studio, where he designs lighting and furniture with a timeless, function-first style.
Why You'll Love It
The pleasure of Kelly is in its adjustability. Turn it one way for focused light on a page, another for a gentler wash on the wall. The metal finishes catch light well, so gold or nickel adds a small sparkle to a shelf. Because the shape is so clean, it sits as happily on a desk as on a console.
Where It's Best Placed
Kelly belongs on a desk, a bedside table or a console, where its form is seen up close. It is an indoor lamp for dry rooms.
