The Iris Table Light is the newest member of Alex MacMaster's Iris family, and its most expressive. Long timber leaves rise from a small round base and then flare outward in every direction, so the lamp seems to move even when it is still.
Handmade to order in Worcestershire in oak or walnut, it is a remarkable meeting of artistry and function, the kind of piece that starts conversations.
“Where timber becomes art.”
The Design Story
Where the Original Iris Table Light gathers its leaves into a closed tulip shape, this new Iris lets them go. Some leaves stand upright around the bulb; others sweep low and wide, like a plant reaching for the light.

Each leaf is curved by hand in Alex's workshop from timber sourced only from FSC and PEFC certified suppliers, then set into the base so the light glows up through the centre and catches every edge.
About the Designer
Alex MacMaster founded MacMaster Design in 2009 on a simple belief: that the objects we live with every day deserve the care usually kept for fine art. He works from a studio in the Worcestershire countryside, at The Guildings in Trimpley near Bewdley, and designs and builds each piece himself, from the first sketch to the final finish.
His work draws on Art Deco geometry, the organic forms of plants and flowers, and the quiet beauty of timber grain. Design, development, making and packing all happen under one roof, and offcuts from one range feed the next, so very little goes to waste. MacMaster pieces now light private homes, luxury hotels and flagship stores across the UK, Europe and beyond.
Why You'll Love It
It is a sculpture you can switch on. At almost 28 in tall and 19 in wide, it fills a sideboard, hearth or plinth with presence, and the warm light it throws makes the grain look almost molten.
Where It's Best Placed
Give it space to breathe: on a hearth, a sideboard, a console or a gallery plinth, where its leaves are not crowded. It suits both contemporary rooms and traditional ones with fireplaces and paintings.

Questions We Hear Most
How is the Iris Table Light different from the Original Iris Table Light?
The Original Iris gathers its leaves into a closed, tulip-like form. The newer Iris Table Light lets its leaves flare out in every direction from a small round base, giving a freer, more dramatic silhouette.
How big is the Iris Table Light?
It measures 70 cm (27.6 in) high, 48 cm (18.9 in) wide and 22 cm (8.7 in) deep, so it needs a generous surface such as a sideboard, hearth or plinth.
What timber is the Iris Table Light made from?
It is handmade in oak or walnut, using materials sourced only from FSC and PEFC certified suppliers. Bespoke timber finishes can be specified.
What light does the Iris Table Light give?
A warm, sculptural glow. The light sits at the heart of the leaves and lights them from within, so it reads as accent and mood lighting rather than a reading lamp.
Does the Iris Table Light come with a bulb?
A cord set is supplied with every MacMaster light; the bulb is not included, so you can choose the warm LED you prefer.
How long does the Iris Table Light take to arrive?
Every Iris Table Light is made for you by hand in Worcestershire, England. Allow about 4 to 8 weeks for it to be shaped, finished and packed in the workshop, plus shipping time to you. Nothing comes off a shelf, so the piece that arrives was made with your order in mind.
