The Harput Lounge Swivel Armchair by Tayfur Ozkaynak is sohoConcept's take on the lounge chair as a crafted object: a square seat on 4-star brushed nickel base. It is built to contract standards, for homes as well as restaurants and hotels.

The Design Story

sohoConcept was founded in 2000 around a short brief: design down to the essentials, and let long-term durability and quality show through a clean-lined form language. The same pieces are made for homes and for contract interiors, and the studio's work has furnished W Hotels and the Paramount Hotel in New York, The Atlantis in the Bahamas and the CN Tower in Toronto.

Inside, the lounge chair is built on a steel frame with S-shaped springs, molded in injected polyurethane foam. The base is four-star swivel base with 4 degree tilt, 24.4 in (62 cm) across, matte brushed nickel. Each one is made in Türkiye. Tayfur Ozkaynak designed the Harput for sohoConcept and offers the one silhouette on a choice of bases and heights, so the same design can carry from a dining room to a kitchen counter or a lounge.

About the Designer

Tayfur Ozkaynak designed many of the chairs and stools in the sohoConcept collection. The Harput Lounge Swivel Armchair is one of them, and, like his other work for the studio, it pairs a carefully shaped seat with a choice of bases and heights so a single silhouette can run through a whole project.

Living With It

Clean leather-look and leather seats with a soft, slightly damp cloth and a little mild soap, then dry them. Vacuum woven fabrics with a soft brush attachment and blot spills straight away; never rub. Wipe metal with a dry microfiber cloth; skip scouring pads.
