Flatball is a cordless, rechargeable LED light shaped like a flattened sphere. It sits steady on a patio or a floor and, in the sizes made for it, floats in the pool.
Availability: Available on June 1, 2027.
It comes in 4 sizes: Flatball XXS (7 in), Flatball (14 in), Flatball L (20 in), Flatball XL (26 in).
What’s Included
One Flatball lamp with its built-in rechargeable light engine. Recharge it with the matching Smart & Green charger, a separate accessory (BULB charger or BULBLITE charger, depending on the size). Control it with the Smart & Green app over Bluetooth.
The Design Story
Smart & Green is a French lighting brand built around cordless, rechargeable light. Its General Manager, Peter Wildhorn, puts the idea this way in the brand’s 2025 catalog: “Light should be nomad and SMART AND GREEN is designing new uses for it.” Smart & Green designed Flatball to float in a pool or sit in a garden, with a soft, warm light that suits every outdoor area.
Why You’ll Love It
The Flatball is made of plastic, but you would not know it once it is lit. The white polyethylene shell diffuses the light so evenly that it glows like frosted glass. That is what makes it worth owning.
Pick from 160,000 colors and 7 preset colors in the app, step between 3 brightness levels and link several Flatballs to change them together. Choose one size or scatter all four.
Made for Real Life
Built for outdoors: the IP 68 rating means it is sealed against dust and can stay out in rain and splashes, so you do not have to bring it in when the weather turns. The battery gives 6 to 8 hours of light per charge. Charge it during the day and enjoy it all evening, with no cord to hide or trip over. Wipe the shell with a soft damp cloth. Floating depends on the size: Flatball XXS (7 in): floats; Flatball (14 in): floats; Flatball L (20 in): floats; Flatball XL (26 in): not floatable.
Putting It Together
Nothing to assemble. Charge the lamp, pair it with the Smart & Green app over Bluetooth and place it where you want light.
