Enferme 36 Outdoor Wall Lantern by Sean Lavin for Visual Comfort

The Enferme 36 Outdoor Wall Lantern by Sean Lavin is a modern interpretation of the classic lantern, engineered for outdoor environments. A clear glass enclosure frames a thin inner glass tube that glows like an Edison bulb. At 36 inches it is the largest Enferme. Finished in Outdoor Black with a brass backplate.

The Design Story

Visual Comfort says the Enferme name is French for “enclosed”, which speaks to its defining feature: a clear glass enclosure framing a thin inner glass tube. The tube houses an integrated LED light source designed to mimic the warmth and profile of an Edison bulb, so the look is familiar and the performance is modern. At 36 inches, it is the collection's most commanding scale and perfect for large-format installations on contemporary homes, where disciplined lines and a solid brass backplate finished in Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass deliver architectural presence and enduring strength. Enferme is outdoor lighting defined by proportion, clarity, and purpose.

Why You'll Love It

The Enferme 36 suits a large-format installation on a contemporary home, such as a grand entry or a tall exterior wall, where a 36 inch lantern gives real architectural presence. It is 36 inches tall, 12 inches wide and 3.9 inches deep, and it weighs 49 pounds. The integrated LED glows warm at 2700K inside the glass tube, with a brass backplate behind it.

Made for Real Life

The Enferme 36 has an aluminum frame, glass panels and machined brass hardware, built for durability and clarity. The spec sheet lists an ETL wet location listing, and the product page rates it Outdoor Full Weather, so it can hang on an exposed exterior wall. Visual Comfort backs it with a 5-year warranty.
