Dora is an LED table lamp with a hat-shaped blown glass shade on a minimal satin metal stem and base, designed in 2023 by Angeletti Ruzza for Oluce.
It comes in 2 finishes: satin gold with sand-blasted red glass, and black nickel with smokey grey glass.
The Design Story
Oluce, founded in Milan in 1945, describes Dora as a family of indoor lamps built on the contrast between the warmth of a blown glass diffuser and the sobriety of the metal body that supports it. The hat-shaped shade carries clear echoes of classical forms, softened by a minimal metal stem and base and topped with a metal disc. The designers pair a retro satin gold and red version with a more austere black nickel and smoked glass one.
The Designers
Silvana Angeletti was born in Rieti in 1969 and Daniele Ruzza in Rome in 1967. After graduating in industrial design from I.S.I.A. in Rome they opened their studio, angeletti ruzza design, and have worked with Italian companies including Teuco, Guzzini, Poltrona Frau, Fiam and Oluce. Their other lamps for Oluce include Cylinda and Yolk.
“Its subtle essentiality is its distinguishing feature.”
