The Dervish Pyramid Wood Swivel Counter or Bar Stool by sohoConcept in-house design team is sohoConcept's take on the stool as a crafted object: a solid wood legs. The construction is contract grade, so it is as suited to a busy restaurant as to a dining room.

The Design Story

sohoConcept was founded in 2000 around a short brief: design down to the essentials, and let long-term durability and quality show through a clean-lined form language. The same pieces are made for homes and for contract interiors, and the studio's work has furnished W Hotels and the Paramount Hotel in New York, The Atlantis in the Bahamas and the CN Tower in Toronto.

Inside, the stool is built on a steel frame with S-shaped springs, molded in injected polyurethane foam. The base is four solid wood legs in a pyramid on a swivel mechanism, with a metal ring footrest; beech in walnut finish, natural ash, or American walnut. The Dervish Pyramid Wood Swivel Counter or Bar Stool comes from sohoConcept's in-house design team and is built to the same contract standard as the rest of the collection.

Where It's Best Placed

At a kitchen island, a home bar or a café counter, where its profile is seen from every side.

Living With It

Clean leather-look and leather seats with a soft, slightly damp cloth and a little mild soap, then dry them. Vacuum woven fabrics with a soft brush attachment and blot spills straight away; never rub. Keep wood away from direct heat and sun, and dust it with a dry cloth. Wipe metal with a dry microfiber cloth; skip scouring pads.
