Drawn by sohoConcept in-house design team for sohoConcept, the Dallas PL Wood Counter or Bar Stool treats a stool as something to be looked at as much as used, built around a plywood shell seat on wood legs. The construction is contract grade, so it is as suited to a busy restaurant as to a dining room.

The Design Story

sohoConcept was founded in 2000 around a short brief: design down to the essentials, and let long-term durability and quality show through a clean-lined form language. The same pieces are made for homes and for contract interiors, and the studio's work has furnished W Hotels and the Paramount Hotel in New York, The Atlantis in the Bahamas and the CN Tower in Toronto.

Inside, the stool is built on a molded plywood in natural or American walnut finish. The base is solid wood with footrest stretchers, in beech (walnut or natural finish) or American walnut. Each one is made in Türkiye. The Dallas PL Wood Counter or Bar Stool comes from sohoConcept's in-house design team and is built to the same contract standard as the rest of the collection.

Where It's Best Placed

At a kitchen island, a home bar or a café counter, where its profile is seen from every side.

Living With It

Clean leather-look and leather seats with a soft, slightly damp cloth and a little mild soap, then dry them. Vacuum woven fabrics with a soft brush attachment and blot spills straight away; never rub. Keep wood away from direct heat and sun, and dust it with a dry cloth. Wipe metal with a dry microfiber cloth; skip scouring pads.
