Columbo is a compact table lamp with a curved, translucent shade of hand-cut alabaster on a brass plinth, made by CTO Lighting of London. It is 13 in wide, 4.3 in deep and 16.9 in tall.
Each lamp is cut from veined alabaster, so no two are the same.
The Design Story
CTO calls Columbo a truly unique light. The alabaster is hand cut and polished, and it shows its natural beauty and texture. The curved form and the translucent stone let light pass through, which makes the lamp look lighter than it is. A brass plinth finishes it, and the compact size suits tables, consoles and desks.
The Story of CTO Lighting
Chris and Clare Turner founded CTO Lighting in London in 1998 on one principle: design lights of uncompromising quality, using only the finest materials and working with elite British craftsmen. Chris is an engineer who designs and builds with meticulous detail, and Clare brings the eye of fashion. Together they built a name for understated luxury in hand-finished brass, mouth-blown glass and artisan-cut stone, and the collection has gone on to light The Savoy, The Dorchester, St Pancras Renaissance Hotel and Chiltern Firehouse.
How It Was Made
Artisans cut and polish the alabaster by hand, and the veining in the stone is natural. The plinth is brass. CTO assembles each Columbo.

Why You’ll Love It
The stone glows softly and looks like a piece of sculpture when the lamp is off. It is small enough for a desk or narrow console, and it uses two bulbs to spread the light evenly through the stone.
Made for Real Life
The 110-130V version takes two G9 bulbs, 18W maximum each as halogen or 2.3W LED at 2700K, and needs dimmable bulbs to use the inline dimmer on the 78.7 in black cord. It weighs 11 lb, so set it on a solid surface. It is IP20 for dry indoor rooms. Dust with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Skip detergents and abrasives, and keep water off the stone.

Will mine look like the photos?
Close, but not identical. The alabaster is natural stone, so the veining and tone vary from lamp to lamp.

How long is the cord?

How do I clean it?
Dust with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. If a mark remains, use a slightly damp lint-free cloth, then dry it with a soft dry one. CTO advises against detergents and abrasive cleaners.
