John August is a San Francisco–based furniture and product designer who brings a craftsman’s sensitivity and a machinist’s precision to his work. Equally at home with traditional hand tools, digital modeling and CNC machinery, he takes a hands-on approach to design and engineering. His fascination with geometric forms guides an exploration of materials and processes, creating objects that bridge art and function.
The Design Story
Pablo describes Ciro as a task light redefined as an expressive continuous form: a fluid tubular structure that folds light and geometry into one system. Pablo Designs has made lighting in San Francisco since 1993.
