The Catena 149 Chandelier by Sean Lavin is a draped chain of crystal links more than twelve feet long, built for rooms where the ceiling is a long way up. The Design Story

Sean Lavin named the Catena series after the Italian word for chain link. Each link is a rectangular crystal cradled in screwless solid brass, and electricity flows through the connectors themselves, so the same links can be built into chandeliers, pendants and sconces. The idea is stretched here into a long, draped line that works as sculpture first and lighting second.

Catena 149 needs more than twelve feet of drop, so it is only for tall ceilings. It is an ambient and decorative light, not a spotlight, so plan task lighting separately. The remote driver also needs a place to live, such as a nearby junction box.

What do the driver options mean?

Remote 120V and Remote 277V use a separate driver at the ceiling, matched to your supply voltage. Surface 120-277V Universal uses a driver mounted on the surface of the ceiling and works on either voltage.

Can I dim it?

Yes. It is rated for ELV and TRIAC dimmers.

How long is the chain?

The overall height is 149.4 inches, and each link is about 0.9 inches wide and 0.8 inches deep.

Can I use it outdoors?
