The Catena 118 Link Chandelier by Sean Lavin is a single drawn-out line of faceted crystal bars and solid brass connectors, just under ten feet long, that hangs from a ceiling canopy and swags in a deep U toward a small end cap. It is closer to a sculpture than a fixture: three dedicated LEDs give it a quiet glow while the chain does the talking. The Design Story

Sean Lavin named the Catena series after the Italian word for chain link. Each link is a faceted rectangular crystal cradled in screwless solid brass, and electricity flows through the connectors themselves. The Link version keeps the idea at its simplest: one long chain, drawn out and left to fall.

It also needs real height: Visual Comfort lists an overall height of 119.6 inches, so it is not for standard eight or nine foot ceilings.

The Link carries three dedicated LEDs and about 305 lumens, so it is mainly a sculptural chain with a soft glow. The standard Catena 118 Chandelier runs 23 LEDs along its links for far more light. Pick the Link when the shape matters most, and the standard chandelier when the fixture is also your light source.

Does it use a remote driver?

The Link is listed as the surface version only, so it comes with a surface-mount driver. Visual Comfort lists no remote-driver option for it.

Can I dim it?

Yes. It is rated for 0-10V, ELV and TRIAC dimmers.

Can I use it outdoors?
