The Caspe Alabaster 8 Rechargeable Table Lamp by Sean Lavin is a tapered block of veined alabaster under a metal collar, a cordless accent light that glows from within. It stands 7.6 inches tall and 5 inches across at the base, charges over USB-C and has a touch dimmer for three light levels.
The collar comes in Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass, Bronze or Polished Nickel. Where Caspe 8 uses crystal, this version is carved from alabaster, so the light takes on the warm, cloudy tones of the stone.
The Design Story
Sean Lavin designs lighting by working with light, form and material, drawing on art, architecture, travel and technology. In the Caspe family he pairs a single natural material with a hand-finished metal band and keeps everything else out of the way. In the alabaster versions the stone is the whole show: a soft cone whose veins of cream and caramel become visible when it is lit from inside.
Why You'll Love It
Alabaster is translucent, so this lamp reads as a sculpture in daylight and as a lantern at night. With no cord to route, it can sit on a console, a bedside table or a bookshelf, and it can be stood either way up, with the collar on top or at the base. Where It Shines
On a console, a bedside table, a bookshelf or a dining table, or anywhere indoors you want a soft, movable glow without running a cord. The stone suits quiet, tactile rooms.
Who This Is Not For
Caspe Alabaster 8 is an accent light. At 87 lumens it will not light a page for reading or work, and it is not a main light for a room. It is rated for indoor, dry locations, so keep it off a patio or a bathroom counter. Anyone who wants an identical look from piece to piece should know alabaster varies. The battery is sealed and not replaceable.

Will mine look like the photographs?
Similar, but not identical. Alabaster is natural stone, so each piece has its own veining and tone.
How do I charge it?
Plug the supplied USB-C cord into a USB charging port. Visual Comfort's instructions for the Caspe family say a full charge takes about five hours, and an indicator light beside the port shows red when it needs charging, flashing green while charging and solid green when full.
Can I replace the battery?
No. The battery is a 3.8V, 7000 mAh pack that is not replaceable, and the LED module is built in, so there is no bulb to change.
How bright is it?
It delivers 87 lumens at 2700K and 90 CRI, a soft accent glow. A three-step touch dimmer on the lamp sets the level, drawing about 0.6 W on low and 2.4 W on high.
Can I use it outside?
No. Its spec sheet lists an indoor only, dry location rating.
Which finish should I choose?
Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass is the warmest against the cream stone, Bronze is the darkest and most graphic, and Polished Nickel is the coolest and cleanest of the three.
