Meet the Designer

Designed by

Pablo Pardo with the Pablo Studio

Raised among artists and engineers in Venezuela, Pablo Pardo builds lights that are sparse, useful and quietly clever. He opened his San Francisco studio in 1993 and still leads it; his work has collected honors from ICFF, NeoCon, Interior Design, Red Dot and the German Design Award, and a piece of his sits in the SFMOMA collection. The Pablo Studio, the brand’s in-house team in San Francisco, engineered and refined it.

The Design Story

Pablo Pardo founded Pablo Designs in San Francisco in 1993 to make lighting that is sparse, beautiful and genuinely useful. Carousel, from the Pablo Studio, blurs the line between ambiance and utility: a low, flat tray that charges your phone sits on top of a hidden LED module, suspended over a fluted acrylic cylinder that throws mesmerizing patterns of light onto the surface below. It is part lamp, part catch-all, part charging station, and entirely sculptural.

Why You’ll Love It

It tidies and lights at the same time. Phones charge on the tray without cables, keys and jewelry have a home, and the glow through the fluted cylinder makes patterns on the table that people always stop to look at. Touch the tray to dim it, and the light warms as it goes down.

Made for Real Life

Two Qi wireless spots with indicator lights charge phones overnight, and a USB-C port handles a watch or earbuds. It plugs into any outlet on a 6-foot cord. Dust the acrylic with a microfiber cloth.

It is three objects in one: a warm ambient lamp, a tray for small things and a two-phone wireless charger.

What do the light patterns look like?

The fluted acrylic breaks the light into soft, rippling lines on the table below, a little like light through water.

Which diffuser and tray combination should I choose?

Can I charge a smartwatch on Carousel?

Use the USB-C port for watches and earbuds; the two wireless spots are for Qi phones.
