Frame finish
With the Calvin Console Sofa Table, sohoConcept and Namik Ozkaynak set out to make an everyday sofa feel tailored: a clear 12 mm glass on polished steel. The construction is contract grade, so it is as suited to a busy restaurant as to a dining room.
The Design Story
sohoConcept was founded in 2000 around a short brief: design down to the essentials, and let long-term durability and quality show through a clean-lined form language. The same pieces are made for homes and for contract interiors, and the studio's work has furnished W Hotels and the Paramount Hotel in New York, The Atlantis in the Bahamas and the CN Tower in Toronto.
Inside, the sofa is built on two polished (bright) stainless steel end frames. Namik Ozkaynak designed the Calvin for sohoConcept and offers the one silhouette on a choice of bases and heights, so the same design can carry from a dining room to a kitchen counter or a lounge.
