Raised among artists and engineers in Venezuela, Pablo Pardo builds lights that are sparse, useful and quietly clever. He opened his San Francisco studio in 1993 and still leads it; his work has collected honors from ICFF, NeoCon, Interior Design, Red Dot and the German Design Award, and a piece of his sits in the SFMOMA collection.
The Design Story
Brazo means “arm” in Spanish, and it is one of founder Pablo Pardo’s own designs. Pardo, a Venezuelan-born industrial designer who founded Pablo Designs in San Francisco in 1993, built his career on sparse, utilitarian lighting that fosters a better relationship between people and their environments. Brazo is that philosophy machined in aluminum: a precise arm that rotates and tilts, and a head whose beam you can dial from a tight spot to a wide flood, so the light fits the task rather than the other way round.
