The Bottega MW Armchair by Tayfur Ozkaynak is sohoConcept's take on the armchair as a crafted object: an upholstered seat on slim steel dowel legs. Behind the quiet lines is contract-grade construction meant for years of daily use.

The Design Story

sohoConcept was founded in 2000 around a short brief: design down to the essentials, and let long-term durability and quality show through a clean-lined form language. The same pieces are made for homes and for contract interiors, and the studio's work has furnished W Hotels and the Paramount Hotel in New York, The Atlantis in the Bahamas and the CN Tower in Toronto.

Inside, the armchair is built on a steel frame with S-shaped springs, molded injected polyurethane foam. The base is slim steel dowels with screw-in glides; black, stainless steel, walnut veneer or natural veneer. Each one is made in Türkiye. Tayfur Ozkaynak designed the Bottega for sohoConcept and offers the one silhouette on a choice of bases and heights, so the same design can carry from a dining room to a kitchen counter or a lounge.

About the Designer

Tayfur Ozkaynak designed many of the chairs and stools in the sohoConcept collection. The Bottega MW Armchair is one of them, and, like his other work for the studio, it pairs a carefully shaped seat with a choice of bases and heights so a single silhouette can run through a whole project.

Living With It

Clean leather-look and leather seats with a soft, slightly damp cloth and a little mild soap, then dry them. Vacuum woven fabrics with a soft brush attachment and blot spills straight away; never rub. Keep wood away from direct heat and sun, and dust it with a dry cloth. Wipe metal with a dry microfiber cloth; skip scouring pads.
