Brad Ascalon’s work is reductive and rational, a search for the right balance of form, function and idea. The New York designer counts Design Within Reach, Ligne Roset and Restoration Hardware among his clients, and has shown work from Milan to Moscow. The Pablo Studio, the brand’s in-house team in San Francisco, engineered and refined it.
The Design Story
Belmont was designed for Pablo by Brad Ascalon, whose multidisciplinary Manhattan studio, founded in 2006, takes a reductive approach: design that is uncomplicated, rational and balanced between form, function and concept. Ascalon’s work has been exhibited around the world, and in 2013 he was invited, alone, to represent American design with an installation at Moscow Design Week. Belmont’s iconic raceway-shaped shade is lined with premium felted wool or woven white fabric, a natural canvas for beautiful textiles, paired with solid wood.
