Aspen S17B is a double-shade pendant by Werner Aisslinger for B.lux: two matte aluminium shades, 23 colors, and you pick the top and the bottom.

The Design Story

B.lux calls Aspen a double-shade suspension lamp, available in three sizes: S17A, S17B and S40. The shades are aluminium in matte finishes and all of them can be combined, which lets you match a room or contrast on purpose. The light is direct and diffused.

Can I mix two colors on one Aspen?

Yes. Pick the Top shade and the Bottom shade separately from 23 matte aluminium colors, matching or contrasting. B.lux lists nearly every pairing; River is the exception, with only a few, and any pairing it does not list shows as unavailable.

What kind of light does the Aspen S17B give?

B.lux describes it as giving direct and diffused light. It uses one E26 LED bulb of up to 15 W, which is not included.

How much space does it need?

Very little: the shade stack is 6.75 inches wide and 17 inches tall. It hangs on a cord up to 78 inches from a 5-inch round canopy, so it works alone over a side table or in a row over a counter.

Can I put it on a dimmer?

B.lux does not list this version as dimmable, so we would not plan on a dimmer. Ask us if dimming matters for your project.
