Drawn for sohoConcept, the Avanos Office Chair treats a office chair as something to be looked at as much as used, built around an upholstered shell on five-star tilt base. The construction is contract grade, so it is as suited to a busy restaurant as to a dining room.

The Design Story

sohoConcept was founded in 2000 around a short brief: design down to the essentials, and let long-term durability and quality show through a clean-lined form language. The same pieces are made for homes and for contract interiors, and the studio's work has furnished W Hotels and the Paramount Hotel in New York, The Atlantis in the Bahamas and the CN Tower in Toronto.

The base is five-star full-tilt office base with gas lift, swivel and casters; chrome, black or gold, 25.5 in (64.8 cm) across, or aluminum, 26 in (66 cm) across. Each one is made in Türkiye.

Living With It

Clean leather-look and leather seats with a soft, slightly damp cloth and a little mild soap, then dry them. Vacuum woven fabrics with a soft brush attachment and blot spills straight away; never rub. Wipe metal with a dry microfiber cloth; skip scouring pads.
