With the Amed Metal Dining Chair, sohoConcept and Tayfur Ozkaynak set out to make an everyday dining chair feel tailored: an upholstered seat on steel legs. The construction is contract grade, so it is as suited to a busy restaurant as to a dining room.
The Design Story
sohoConcept began in 2000 with a focus on the essentials: lasting construction, honest materials and a clean line. Its collection moves easily between residential rooms and contract projects, from the Paramount Hotel in Manhattan to Milos restaurant in Miami and The Atlantis resort in the Bahamas.
Inside, the dining chair is built on a steel frame with S-shaped springs, molded injected polyurethane foam. The base is steel in chrome, stainless steel or black powder coat, with plastic-tipped feet; chrome or brass legs with adjuster caps are also offered. Each one is made in Türkiye. Tayfur Ozkaynak designed the Amed for sohoConcept and offers the one silhouette on a choice of bases and heights, so the same design can carry from a dining room to a kitchen counter or a lounge.

Living With It
Clean leather-look and leather seats with a soft, slightly damp cloth and a little mild soap, then dry them. Vacuum woven fabrics with a soft brush attachment and blot spills straight away; never rub. Wipe metal with a dry microfiber cloth; skip scouring pads.
