The Design Story
A fixture which lays flat for shipping opens up to concentric ellipses created by laser-cutting of a single aluminum plate. The different elements can be positioned on separate axes from each other allowing light direction and varied spatial configurations. Copper connections allow placement of hundreds of LEDs.
Meet the Designer
Carlotta de Bevilacqua is an Italian architect and designer and a leading figure in contemporary lighting. A pioneer of LED design at Artemide, she shaped its "Human Light" philosophy, light that serves people's well-being and the planet, and she also leads Danese Milano.
Why You'll Love It
- Recognized with Red Dot Design Award 2011 and Compasso d'Oro ADI 2014.
- 9 concentric mobile ellipses obtained by an aluminum plate support a circuit of 384 LEDs.
- The ellipses rotate independently on two different axes enabling light to be directed.
- Made in anodized aluminum.
