Berlin is a round wall and ceiling lamp, a thick metal ring in satin anodized brass around a disc of wired glass, designed in 2017 by Christophe Pillet for Oluce.
It comes in 3 sizes: Small (11.8 in), Medium (15.7 in) and Large (19.7 in), all in satin anodized brass.
The Design Story
Oluce, founded in Milan in 1945, asked Pillet to rethink the ceiling light. Instead of a discreet fitting, Berlin is a decorative object with a slim, thick-walled ring that frames a disc of sand-blasted wired glass. The satin brass finish nods to Art Deco, updated with contemporary shapes and LED light sources, and the lamp works on the wall or the ceiling.
The Story
Oluce describes Berlin as a challenge to the usual idea of a ceiling lamp, giving it a decorative, eye-catching look. The small size works as a wall or ceiling light, and the two larger sizes are made for the ceiling. The design was recognized with an Archiproducts Design Award in 2017.

Why You’ll Love It
Berlin turns the ceiling into a feature. The brass ring catches light along its edge, and the wired glass disc spreads a soft glow across the room. Pick the Small for a hallway or entry wall, and the Medium or Large for a bedroom, kitchen or living room ceiling.
Made for Real Life
The lamp uses standard bulbs, so replacement is easy: the Small takes two E12 bulbs of 10W maximum, the Medium two E26 bulbs of 15W maximum and the Large four E26 bulbs of 15W maximum. It is UL rated for US use. Wipe the brass and glass with a soft dry cloth and skip abrasive or solvent cleaners.
