AVIO Oak Stool by Kazushige Miyake for blomus — A solid-oak stool and small side table made of two rounded halves joined as one, in natural or black-stained oak.
Part of AVIO, the split-top solid-oak furniture by Kazushige Miyake for the German design house blomus.
The Design Story
Miyake named AVIO after the Finnish word for marriage: two halves, joined, become a whole. Miyake named AVIO after the Finnish word for marriage: every piece is built from two solid-oak halves that meet in the middle and become one.
Two halves, one form: AVIO is solid oak with the calm of Japanese design and the warmth of Scandinavian wood.
Why You’ll Love It
A small, warm piece of solid wood that finds a job in every room.
Made for Real Life
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry; use coasters under glasses and keep away from direct heat. Indoor use only. The wood comes from FSC-certified forests, and the oak grain varies from piece to piece. Pairs well with the AVIO oak side table, AVIO oak coffee table and ORU origami side table.

Why We Love It
AVIO looks soft and sculptural but is built from solid oak to last for generations. From a small town in Germany’s old steel region, the Blome family has gone from bicycle parts (1921) to metal gifts (1961) to the design label blomus (2000), still family-run in its fourth generation. LoftModern is an authorized blomus retailer.
