Alba 174 is a wall light with a polished opaline glass sphere on a slim satin brass tube shaped like an inverted L, designed by Mariana Pellegrino Soto for Oluce.
It comes in one finish: satin brass with a polished opaline glass sphere.
The Design Story
Oluce, founded in Milan in 1945, built the Alba family around a drop of water, which the designer puts to use in different ways depending on the model. Soft shapes from nature meet square lines and a satin brass finish. The 174 wall version carries its glass sphere on a tube that takes the form of an inverted L, a shape that Oluce also offers in a second, larger size.
The Designers
Mariana Pellegrino Soto grew up in Caracas and studied product design at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Rome. Her thesis project was developed together with Oluce, which led to her work for the company. In 2016 she won the Best Packaging Award at the Global Bottled Water Awards for a bottle design. She now works at F&N Compositi.
“the designer’s imagination was inspired by a drop of water”
Oluce, on Alba
How It Was Made
Oluce makes the Alba 174 in Italy from metal and polished opaline blown glass. The glass gives a diffused light, and the metal structure is finished in satin brass.

Why You’ll Love It
Alba 174 gives a hallway, a bedside or a bathroom mirror a soft pool of light and a bit of sculpture. The opaline glass glows evenly and looks as good switched off as lit, and the brass tube adds a warm, graphic line against the wall.
Made for Real Life
The light takes one E26 bulb up to 75W. The bulb is not included, so choose the warmth and brightness you prefer. The lamp is UL rated for use in the US. Dust the glass and brass with a soft dry cloth and avoid abrasive or solvent cleaners.
