What is the John designed to do?
Sean Lavin designed it so that it spins and tilts a full circle inside its ring to send light in any direction. It has the look of a precision instrument.
Which John finish works with my palette?
Satin nickel or antique bronze: pick the one your rail and other hardware already wear.
Can the John light artwork or a display?
Yes, that is what it is for: it rotates and pivots a full 360°, so the beam lands where you want it.
Does the John come with a bulb?
No. It takes an MR16 lamp, which you choose separately (up to 50 watts).
Will the John work on my existing rail?
If it is Visual Comfort FreeJack, MonoRail or Wall MonoRail, yes — order the matching version. Ordinary H-, J- or L-type track is a different standard.
Can I dim the John?
Yes, with a low-voltage dimmer chosen to suit the system's transformer.
What else do I need to order with the John?
A lamp, plus the rest of the system it mounts on: rail or a FreeJack port, supports, a power feed and a 12V transformer. The Monopoint version only needs a junction box.
How soon can the John arrive?
Most options ship within 2–3 business days. 12 are waiting on a restock (October 19, 2026 or October 20, 2026) and can be ordered now; the Shipping Info table lists which.
