Lyndon Pendant Light by Oluce

Lyndon is a candelabra-style pendant light with a metal frame holding four transparent glass globes, designed in 1977 by Vico Magistretti for Oluce.

It comes in 2 finishes: chromium-plated or satin gold, each with transparent glass globes.

The Design Story

Oluce, founded in Milan in 1945, describes Lyndon’s metal body as bending to suit how the lamp is used, extending to enclose four transparent glass globes that hold the bulbs. Magistretti’s preference for simple, geometric forms recalls the atmosphere of a large capital city at the end of the 19th century.

The Designers

Vico Magistretti (1920 to 2006) was born and died in Milan. He earned his architecture degree in 1945 and joined his father’s firm. During the war he met Gio Ponti and Ernesto N. Rogers, and after the war he worked on reconstruction projects. His architecture includes the Torre al Parco and the Faculty of Biology in Milan, and he also designed furniture and lamps for companies such as Cassina, Artemide, De Padova, Fritz Hansen and Kartell. For Oluce he designed the Atollo, Lyndon, Pascal and Sonora lamps. He taught as a visiting professor at the Royal College of Art in London.

Why You’ll Love It

Lyndon brings a candelabra silhouette into a modern room, its four glass globes glowing like a small constellation overhead. Choose chromium for a cool, industrial edge or satin gold for warmth, and let the geometric metal frame do the rest.

It is not dimmable and mounts to the ceiling; the assembly instructions are linked in Downloads.
