Alba 1-Arm Pendant Light by Oluce

Alba 466 is a pendant light with a blown glass sphere hanging from a single square-section metal arm, designed by Mariana Pellegrino Soto for Oluce in 2018.

It comes in 2 finishes: satin brass and anodic bronze.

The Design Story

Oluce, founded in Milan in 1945, built the Alba family around a drop of water, which the designer puts to use in different ways depending on the model. Soft shapes from nature meet square lines and a satin brass finish, and the family has a strong visual impact. In the 466 pendant the glass solid hangs from a slim metal arm, so the sphere seems to float in the room like a drop.

The Designers

Mariana Pellegrino Soto grew up in Caracas and studied product design at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Rome. Her thesis project was developed together with Oluce, which led to her work for the company. In 2016 she won the Best Packaging Award at the Global Bottled Water Awards for a bottle design. She now works at F&N Compositi.

How It Was Made

Oluce makes the Alba 466 in Italy from metal and blown glass. The glass gives a diffused light, and the metal is finished in satin brass or anodic bronze.

Made for Real Life
