Meet the Designer
Designed by
Carmine Deganello
For Carmine Deganello, a lamp begins with a material and an experiment. Based in Amsterdam and Milan, he has worked with Pablo for years, and his designs have been exhibited at Milan’s Triennale Design Museum and Vienna’s MAK.
The Design Story
Solis was designed for Pablo Designs by Carmine Deganello, a Milan-based experimental product and architectural designer whose practice is driven by research into materials. With Solis he set out to engage with light in its archetypal form, the sun’s rays: a laser-cut polyester shade held in tension between two rings, so light escapes through hundreds of fine cuts and casts shimmering rays and radiating patterns across a room. Pablo Designs has made lighting in San Francisco since 1993.
Why You’ll Love It
It feels architectural, like a sculpture growing out of the ceiling, while still casting Solis’ beautiful patterns.
Made for Real Life
Hardwired and fully dimmable, with one 11 W LED bulb. It ships flat-packed.

Questions We Hear Most
What ceiling height do I need?
The 24 inch suits standard rooms; 48 and 72 inch need tall ceilings.
Which color glows brightest?
White.
Is it dimmable?
Yes, full-range, and it is compatible with TRIAC/ELV dimmers.
Does the light get warmer as it dims?
No. It uses a fixed 2700K LED bulb, so the color stays the same as you dim.
Does it ship assembled?
It ships flat-packed.
Who is it not for?
It needs hardwiring to a ceiling junction box, it is a single 950 lumen bulb rather than a main room light, and the spec sheet lists no wet or outdoor rating.
