Meet the Designer
Designed by
Carmine Deganello
For Carmine Deganello, a lamp begins with a material and an experiment. Based in Amsterdam and Milan, he has worked with Pablo for years, and his designs have been exhibited at Milan’s Triennale Design Museum and Vienna’s MAK.
The Design Story
Solis was designed for Pablo Designs by Carmine Deganello, a Milan-based experimental product and architectural designer whose practice is driven by research into materials. With Solis he set out to engage with light in its archetypal form, the sun’s rays: a laser-cut polyester shade held in tension between two rings, so light escapes through hundreds of fine cuts and casts shimmering rays and radiating patterns across a room. Pablo Designs has made lighting in San Francisco since 1993.
Why You’ll Love It
It is generous with light and still beautiful: the drum glows, and the cuts throw delicate patterns on walls and ceiling.
Made for Real Life
Integrated LED rated for 50,000 hours, fully dimmable, and it ships flat-packed. The 10 ft cable is field-cuttable.

Questions We Hear Most
Which size for a dining table?
24 inches for most tables; 36 for large tables.
Which color shows the most pattern?
White.
Is it bright enough for a living room?
Yes, the 36 inch gives 5,600 lumens.
Is it dimmable?
Yes, full-range with an ELV dimmer; 0–10V and DALI are available on request.
Does the light get warmer as it dims?
No. The LED is a fixed 2700K, so the color stays the same as you dim.
Who is it not for?
It needs hardwiring to a ceiling junction box, and the spec sheet lists no wet or outdoor rating, so keep it indoors.
