Pablo Studio, 2020

Pablo Studio is a small group of makers and inventors with diverse backgrounds in industrial design and craft, and a deep understanding of manufacturing, materials and technology. The team approaches each project by isolating a concept, refining it and reducing it to its central principle. Experimentation and meticulous attention to detail shape the studio’s work.

The Design Story

Pablo Designs has made lighting in San Francisco since 1993 to be beautiful, sparse and deeply useful. Candél comes from the Pablo Studio, the company’s small team of makers and inventors, and it began with a simple image: a cone of light. Its fluted, vessel-like body lets the room filter through, while the glowing aluminum module inside casts a warm, intimate light. It won a 2020 Hospitality Design Product Award and Gold in Illumination at the 2021 International Design Awards.

Why You’ll Love It

It sets a table the way candles do, without the wax, the smoke or the worry. The fluted body catches and scatters the light, so it sparkles even when dimmed low, and the deep 1800K glow is flattering to faces and food. Four finishes range from crystalline to smoky to golden, so it fits a minimalist dining room as easily as a moody cocktail bar.

Made for Real Life

Charge it for about 3 hours with the included USB-C cable and it runs 10 to 150+ hours depending on brightness. Pablo rates it IP20 (IP54 is available from Pablo on request), so keep the standard model out of rain. Dust it with a soft microfiber cloth.

Questions We Hear Most

What makes Candél better than real candles

It gives a similar warm, intimate color (down to 1800K) with no flame, no wax, no smoke and no soot, and it runs up to 150+ hours per charge.

Does the light color change

Yes. Candél is dim-to-warm: 2500K at full level, glowing warmer toward 1800K as you step down through its four levels.

What recognition has Candél received

Candél took Gold in Illumination at the 2021 International Design Awards and won a Hospitality Design Product Award in 2020.

Which Candél finish is right for me

Clear finishes feel light and crystalline, Smoke/Black is dramatic, and Bronze/Brass brings a golden glow.

Can I take Candél outside

On dry evenings, yes. The standard model is rated IP20, so bring it in before rain. Pablo offers IP54 on request.

Who is it not for

Anyone who needs bright task light: Candél puts out 110 lm at full level. It is a mood light for tables, not a reading lamp.

Why We Love It

Candél gives every table the glow of candlelight and the ease of a lamp you never have to refill. LoftModern is an authorized Pablo Designs retailer, so every piece ships new with Pablo’s full warranty.
