Raised among artists and engineers in Venezuela, Pablo Pardo builds lights that are sparse, useful and quietly clever. He opened his San Francisco studio in 1993 and still leads it; his work has collected honors from ICFF, NeoCon, Interior Design, Red Dot and the German Design Award, and a piece of his sits in the SFMOMA collection. The Pablo Studio, the brand’s in-house team in San Francisco, engineered and refined it.
The Design Story
Pablo Pardo founded Pablo Designs in San Francisco in 1993, and the Bola family has become one of its signatures: hand-blown opal glass orbs that seem to float on slender metal. The Pablo Studio built Bola Lantern on the Bola Sphere Table 8, adding a premium leather handle and a battery so the orb can move through the home. It won a 2022 European Product Design Award.
