The Design Story
An extension to the iconic Tolomeo family, Tolomeo shade wall spot combines the head of the Tolomeo table lamp with shade to a wall mounting support to allow for a soft ambient wall lighting solution.
Meet the Designers
Michele De Lucchi (born 1951 in Ferrara) is an Italian architect and designer and was a member of the Memphis group in the 1980s. With Giancarlo Fassina he designed the Tolomeo in 1987, which won the Compasso d'Oro in 1989 and grew into a whole family, from Micro to Mega.
Giancarlo Fassina is an Italian designer and a longtime Artemide collaborator. His technical precision was key to the Tolomeo, which he co-designed with Michele De Lucchi in 1987.
Famous on Screen
Look closely at M's desk in the James Bond film Skyfall (2012): that is a Tolomeo Basculante table lamp. Few lamps say "serious work happens here" quite like a Tolomeo.
Why You'll Love It
- Adjust to full downward and max. 30˚ upward positions.
- Mounting to standard electrical junction boxes.
- Tolomeo bodies are shipped with 10ft. cord and plug (cord to be shortened and plug removed by electrician during hardwire installation). -Shade available in parchment paper or in pale grey satin. -Remains vertical regardless of arm angle.
Made for Real Life
Perfect for bedside reading, hallways, living rooms and offices; anywhere floor and table space is tight. Good to know: the bulb versions need E26 bulbs, which are not included, it is made for dry indoor rooms and an electrician should hardwire it.
