The Design Story
The Queen pairs the humblest face of metal with the most precious one. Outside, raw steel is left to corrode, and nature draws its own unpredictable patterns in the rust; inside, the dome is gilded by hand with 23.75-carat gold leaf from Manetti, the Florentine goldbeaters. Ieva Kalēja kept the form a pure half-sphere so the two surfaces speak for themselves.
Ieva Kalēja, the Riga designer behind Mammalampa, was named by Elle Decor in 2020 among the ten most talented women designers in the world, as reported by FOLD magazine, and in 2026 she leads the product-design jury of Latvia’s National Design Award.

Made for Real Life
