Nothing to relamp: the light source is built in. The brass is a living finish that deepens with age. A soft, dry cloth keeps the metalwork clean. The cables can be cut on site to the exact drop you want. Pair it with an LED-compatible ELV or TRIAC dimmer to go from bright to candle-soft.

A linear piece looks right when it is shorter than the table it lights. For the Essence:

What is the idea behind the Essence?
Visual Comfort designed it so that it is a single razor-thin line of light, so slim it nearly disappears. It belongs to Visual Comfort's Essence family, which comes in several sizes and versions.
Which Essence finish works with my palette?
Our take: brass brings warmth to wood and earthy tones.
Can the Essence be the only light in the room?
It is designed as mood lighting (894 lumens), so pair it with lamps or recessed lights for tasks.
How long should my table be for the Essence?
Choose a table of about 62″ or longer so the 50″ fixture sits comfortably inside the ends.
Will the Essence work outside under a roof?
Yes. Visual Comfort rates it for damp interiors and outdoor spaces under cover, so a loggia or covered patio is fine; keep it out of direct rain.
Will I ever change a bulb in the Essence?
There are no bulbs. The light comes from built-in LED modules with a 50,000-hour L70 rating, fitted at the factory.
How is the Essence hung?
It is cable suspended; in the box: 10 feet of field-cuttable cable. Sloped ceilings up to 45°. A licensed electrician should install it.
How soon can the Essence arrive?
All the versions we offer are in stock right now, and in-stock pieces usually leave within 2–3 business days.
