Raised among artists and engineers in Venezuela, Pablo Pardo builds lights that are sparse, useful and quietly clever. He opened his San Francisco studio in 1993 and still leads it; his work has collected honors from ICFF, NeoCon, Interior Design, Red Dot and the German Design Award, and a piece of his sits in the SFMOMA collection.
The Design Story
Cortina is architectural simplicity from Pablo Designs, the San Francisco studio Pablo Pardo founded in 1993. A stoic clear acrylic cylinder surrounds a sensual, translucent mesh fabric diffuser, which shields and softens the light inside. The effect is a glowing column that seems to float within its clear shell, a lamp that reads as both solid and weightless.
