The Design Story
Pica is a small irony made beautiful: sand applied to glass, a material that starts as sand. Besa starts with a clear blown glass that is glossy outside and frosted at the bottom, then applies a band of real fine-grained sand to the inner surface by hand, with the color fully saturated into the coating, and seals it with a clear protective coat. When it is lit, every grain refracts the light. Besa’s signature is the glass. American designers work with European craftsmen, every shade is made by hand, and each one is inspected in Ohio before it leaves the factory, so the small variations you see are the mark of a handmade piece, not a flaw.
Why You’ll Love It

Is the Pica 17 okay over a shower or on a porch?
It is damp rated for indoor rooms, so a steamy bathroom ceiling is fine; it is not meant for outdoor porches or spots that get sprayed directly.
What does the Pica 17 need for installation?
It needs a standard 4-inch octagonal ceiling box and an electrician; it is hardwired, not plug-in.
