The Design Story

Modus borrows the RLM shape of old factory lights and makes it from a cement-based material, so each shade has the soft, matte texture of real concrete. Besa designed it to hide its light source and push a focused beam downward, which is exactly what an island or a work table needs. Besa’s signature is the glass. American designers work with European craftsmen, every shade is made by hand, and each one is inspected in Ohio before it leaves the factory, so the small variations you see are the mark of a handmade piece, not a flaw.
