The Design Story
Geno is about atmosphere. Its transparent elliptical shade, blown in Europe, carries a swirling vapor décor that half-hides the inside of the glass. When it is lit, the light drifts through the pattern and the filament flickers into view, then fades again. Besa’s signature is the glass. American designers work with European craftsmen, every shade is made by hand, and each one is inspected in Ohio before it leaves the factory, so the small variations you see are the mark of a handmade piece, not a flaw.

Can you see the bulb through Geno glass?
Only in glimpses; the vapor pattern softens it, which is why a filament lamp looks so good inside.
How high should the Geno hang over an island?
Most kitchens set the bottom of the glass about 30 to 36 inches above the counter (our advice); the 10-foot cord leaves plenty of room to get it right.
Will the Geno work under a vaulted ceiling?
Yes. The flat canopy fits a standard ceiling box and is approved for sloped ceilings.
Is the Geno fine in a steamy room?
It is damp rated for indoor spaces, so a bathroom or laundry room is fine; it is not meant for outdoors.
