Alva 1-Light is an Edison bulb carved from crystal, with the filament etched inside and the light hidden in the socket.
The Design Story
Sean Lavin loved the look of the old squirrel-cage bulb but not its glare. Alva keeps the silhouette and replaces the glass and wire with a solid block of optic crystal, its filament drawn inside by laser.
The LED sits out of sight in the socket and shines down through the crystal, so the bulb sparkles while the counter below gets real light.

Made for Real Life
Nothing to relamp: the light source is built in. Polish the glass now and then with a soft microfiber cloth. The brass is a living finish that deepens with age. A soft, dry cloth keeps the metalwork clean. The cord can be cut on site to the exact drop you want. Pair it with an LED-compatible ELV or TRIAC dimmer to go from bright to candle-soft.

Can the Alva 1-Light be the only light in the room?
It is designed as mood lighting (241 lumens), so pair it with lamps or recessed lights for tasks.
Is the Alva 1-Light the right size for my space?
At 3.6″ wide it works alone over a small table or nightstand, or in a row of 4 along an 8-ft island.
Will the Alva 1-Light work outside under a roof?
Yes. Visual Comfort rates it for damp interiors and outdoor spaces under cover, so a loggia or covered patio is fine; keep it out of direct rain.
Will I ever change a bulb in the Alva 1-Light?
There are no bulbs. The light comes from built-in LED modules with a 50,000-hour L70 rating, fitted at the factory.
How is the Alva 1-Light hung?
It is cord suspended; in the box: 12 feet of field-cuttable cloth cord. Sloped ceilings up to 45°. A licensed electrician should install it.
