At a time when international trends favored lamps with tubular metal structures and halogen bulbs, Santa & Cole introduced a warmer alternative with the Basica lamp. This design revival in the 1980s featured natural materials such as wood, paper board, or ribbons, challenging the dominant fashion and promoting a warmer modernity that valued craftsmanship. The Basica lamp played a pivotal role in Santa & Cole's international expansion, setting a new trend in Europe. Today, 30 years later, the Basica lamp continues to make the same statement. Its wooden column, supported by a heavy metal base of the same diameter, accommodates a range of shades in eight different shapes and colors. An optional wider base can be placed underneath for added stability.
