The Nora Lighting NFRC-R6W3TWMPW 6" Fire Rated Canless Regressed LED Downlight combines a refined regressed aperture with shallow canless construction and certified fire-rated performance. Delivering a nominal 1500 lumens from only 15 watts, this 6-inch LED downlight provides powerful general illumination without requiring a conventional recessed housing.

Designed for new construction and remodel applications, the NFRC-R6W3TWMPW features five selectable color temperatures from 2700K to 5000K, 90+ CRI, Triac/ELV dimming, IC Airtight construction and wet-location suitability. Its shallow design makes it especially useful for installations with limited plenum space, while the regressed aperture provides a more traditional recessed-light appearance than a flat wafer fixture.

Product Specifications

Regressed Design for a Refined Recessed-Lighting Look

The NFRC-R6W3TWMPW is the regressed version of Nora's 6-inch Fire Rated Canless family. Rather than positioning the luminous surface directly at the ceiling plane, the regressed configuration creates greater visual depth within the aperture.

This makes the fixture a strong choice when you want the installation flexibility of a shallow canless downlight but prefer a more architectural, dimensional recessed-light appearance instead of a completely flat wafer design.

2-Hour Fire Rated Canless Downlight

The NFRC-R6W3TWMPW is designed for projects where fire-rated recessed lighting is required. Nora uses multi-piece construction to provide an additional protective layer above the ceiling, and the fixture is cETLus listed and certified to UL 263 and ASTM E119 for a 2-hour fire rating.

Fire-resistance performance depends on the complete ceiling assembly and proper installation. Always verify the approved ceiling construction, Nora installation instructions and applicable local building and electrical codes for your project.

1500 Lumens from Only 15 Watts

The integrated LED system provides a nominal 1500 lumens while consuming only 15 watts. This provides substantial general illumination from a shallow 6-inch fixture while helping reduce energy consumption compared with traditional light sources.

With 90+ CRI, the fixture delivers high-quality color rendering so furnishings, finishes and interior surfaces appear natural and accurately rendered.

5 Selectable Color Temperatures

A five-position CCT switch located in the junction box allows the installer to choose the preferred color temperature in the field. One fixture can therefore accommodate a wide range of residential and commercial lighting preferences.

• 2700K Warm White: Warm, inviting illumination for bedrooms, living rooms and hospitality spaces.
• 3000K Soft White: A versatile choice for residential interiors, kitchens and hallways.
• 3500K Neutral White: Balanced illumination for residential and commercial environments.
• 4000K Cool White: Crisp light for kitchens, workspaces and commercial interiors.
• 5000K Daylight: Cooler white illumination for applications where bright visual clarity is preferred.

Canless Installation for Shallow Ceilings

No traditional recessed housing is required. The shallow canless construction allows the NFRC-R6W3TWMPW to be installed in low-clearance plenums where a conventional recessed can may be difficult to accommodate.

The fixture includes a pre-wired junction box, while a quick-disconnect connection helps simplify installation. It can be used for remodel projects or new construction, with optional Nora frame-in accessories available when fixture locations need to be established before the finished ceiling is installed.

IC Airtight & Wet Location Rated

The NFRC-R6W3TWMPW is IC Airtight rated for appropriate insulated ceiling applications and is cETLus listed for wet locations. These ratings increase installation flexibility across residential, multifamily, hospitality and commercial projects.

Always follow Nora's current installation instructions and all applicable electrical, building and fire-rating requirements.

Dimmable LED Performance

The NFRC-R6W3TWMPW supports Triac and ELV phase dimming when paired with a compatible dimmer. This allows the same fixture to provide brighter general illumination when needed and softer ambient lighting at lower light levels.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Nora NFRC-R6W3TWMPW fire rated?

Yes. Nora lists the NFRC-R6W3TW as cETLus listed and certified to UL 263 and ASTM E119 for a 2-hour fire rating. The complete ceiling assembly and installation must also meet applicable project and code requirements.
